Melina Perez Biography

Born on the 9th of March 1979, Melina Perez is an American wrestler and manager. She is currently signed to the RAW brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

Melina Perez has the distinction of being a two time former World Wrestling Entertainment Women’s Champion. She served as manager for MNM, the former tag team. She managed them to a record three reigns for the World Wrestling Entertainment Tag Team Champions. She also managed her boyfriend and former MNM member Johnny Nitro, now known as John Morrison. She led Johnny Nitro to two reigns as World Wrestling Entertainment Intercontinental Champion.

Before embarking on a pro wrestling career, Perez was known as a model. She modeled athletic wear for Nike and won a Miss California beauty contest. In the year 2000, after speaking with Mike Henderson, she decided to pursue pro wrestling. She began to train at the School of Hard Knocks, run by Jesse Hernandez. Her pro wrestling debut came in the year 2002 as a part of a tour of the American independent wrestling scene. She was a member of a number of different California based promotions, including the Empire Wrestling Federation, for which she wrestled under the name Kyra. For CRUSH, she wrestled under the name Melanie Little Deer. A lot of Empire Wrestling Federation officials have gone on record, claiming that she is the most talented woman who has ever come through their school.

Perez then auditioned for the World Wrestling Entertainment reality TV show Tough Enough III. She made the final twenty one, but was eliminated from the final competition in the first episode of the series.

Melina Perez would make her debut in the farm territory of World Wrestling Entertainment, Ohio Valley Wrestling, in the year 2004. She was brought in as a means of taunting her ex boyfriend John Hennigan. At that point, however, she turned on Matt Cappotelli and began to align herself with Hennigan. Hennigan later changed his name to Johnny Nitro. Then, Nitro began to team up with Joey Matthews, later to become known as Joey Mercury. The trio would go on to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.

While wrestling for OVW, Melina Perez would make occasional appearances on World Wrestling Entertainment TV shows. She dressed up as a Native American Indian on a Thanksgiving edition of SmackDown in the year 2003. Her first RAW appearance came in November of 2004, when Randy Orton hosted a special diva fashion show. In December of that year, she made another RAW appearance in a limbo contest.

With the team MNM, she made her debut on the WWE in an April 2005 edition of SmackDown.

Perez is of Mexican and American heritage. She speaks Spanish and English fluently. Currently, Melina Perez is dating John Hennigan, also known as John Morrison on ECW. The two had met when they were auditioning for Tough Enough III. Unlike many other WWE models, Melina Perez has said that she has no interest in modeling for Playboy magazine.
