Bobby Lashley Biography
Born Franklin Roberto Lashley on the 16th of July 1976 in Junction City, Kansas, Bobby Lashley is a renowned American professional wrestler. He was also an esteemed collegiate amateur wrestler. Currently, Bobby Lashley is on the roster of Word Wrestling Entertainment. He wrestles on WWE’s RAW brand. Lashley was also a member of the United States Army at one point in time.
Lashley began his wrestling career at Missouri Valley College. There, he won three national amateur wrestling championships between the years of 1996 and 1998; in the year 1995, he made it to fourth place. In the mid 90s, Lashley was also the reigning NAIA National Wrestling Champion, wherein he competed at the weight of 177 pounds or eighty kilograms. After college, Lashley would go on to join the United States Army, where he would continue his wrestling career.
In the year 2003, Lashley would embark upon his professional wrestling career. At that point, he was offered a developmental deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE.) He was then assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, a farm federation of WWE. There, he became known under the moniker “Blaster Lashley.” He was a member of the Bolin Services stable alongside Ken Doane and Mike Mondo. Then, in the year 2005, Lashley would appear at four live events. He wrestled in dark matches for both the SmackDown and Raw brands.
In September of that year, Lashley made his televised WWE debut on the SmackDown program. At that point, he was wrestling under the name Bobby Lashley.
Lashley is a three time National Amateur Wrestling Champion, two time Armed Forces Champion, four time All American Champion, and a Silver Medallist for the Military World Championship.
In Lashley’s premiere pay per view match at the No Mercy Tournament in the year 2005, he squashed Simon Dean. Lashley would go on to defeat a number of wrestling superstars on both SmackDown and Velocity.
Then, on a November 11th episode of the TV show SmackDown, Lashley went head to head with Orland Jordan. Lashley would defeat Jordan, effectively making it to Team SmackDown on the 2005 Survivor Series. Sadly, Lashley would be the first to be eliminated on this series.
In early 2006, Lashley became the first participant from SmackDown to be entered on to that year’s Royal Rumble. On the Royal Rumble, Lashley became the eighth wrestler to enter the match. He put in an extremely dominating performance, effectively eliminating Sylvan. Despite this fact, he was still eliminated fairly early on by champions The Big Show and Kane.
After the Royal Rumble, Lashley entered in to a feud with John “Bradshaw” Layfield. This led to a match in the year 2006 at No Way Out. This was Lashley’s first loss in a singles competition due to interference from Finlay.
In February and March of that year, Lashley was involved in a feud against Finlay. The two came head to head on several different occasions. Eventually, they were placed in to a Lumberjack match that Finlay would win with the help of his shillelagh.
