Batista Biography
Born David Michael Bautista on the 18th of January 1969, Batista is a pro American wrestler currently signed to the SmackDown brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
In the course of his career at World Wrestling Entertainment, this controversial wrestler has twice held the World Heavyweight Championship and the World Tag Team Championship alongside Ric Flair. He also held the WWE Tag Team Championship with Rey Mysterio and won 2005’s Royal Rumble.
In October of 1988, Batista married his wife Angie, with whom he would father two children. In the year 2006, however, it was revealed that he and his wife are separated. During this period, he dated Rebecca DiPietro, the 2006 Diva Search contestant.
Batista is of Greek and Filipino ancestry. For many years, his date of birth was unclear. While his website originally had him listed as being born in the year 1969, the IMDb and several news reports listed the date as 1966. In the year 2006, however, Batista clarified the matter by stating that 1969 was his correct date of birth after all.
Batista originally tried out at the WCW Power Plant. Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker told him then that he would never make it in the world of wrestling. Batista then moved on to the WWF, at which point he was sent to work with Afa Anoa’i. He wrestled in the WXW promotion of Anoa’i under the name of Kahn.
In the year 2000, Batista made his Ohio Valley Wrestling debut. There, he joined forces with Synn. He wrestled under the name of Leviathan during his tenure at Ohio Valley Wrestling. As a member of the stable known as the Disciples of Synn, Batista was undefeated until he was beat by Kane of WWF at an OVW super card, Christmas Chaos. Batista would go on to win the Ohio Valley Wrestling Heavyweight Championship from Doug “The Machine” Basham. Eventually, he lost the belt to the Prototype, at which point Batista moved on to WWF.
On a May 2002 episode of SmackDown, Batista began his WWE wrestling career under the name of Deacon Bautista. He served as a heel enforcer for Reverend D Von on the SmackDown franchise.
Batista would go on to make his WWE match debut in a tag team fight against Faarooq and Randy Orton. After using his spinebuster, Batista managed to pin Orton. While Orton would go on to try and beat Batista and D Von over the next few weeks using different partners, Orton would always lose to Batista’s spinebuster. In a match against Rikishi, Batista suffered his first loss after D Von accidentally punched him. This allowed Rikishi to take advantage and pin Batista for the win.
Over the next few weeks, Batista and D Von began to argue. This culminated in Batista turning on D Von. D Von eventually fired him, whereupon he signed to RAW. At that point, he was rebranded as Dave Batista. He began fighting alongside Ric Flair. He feuded with Kane, whom he would go on to defeat in a pay per view event in Sunrise, Florida known as Armageddon 2002.
