Kane Biography
Born Andrew William Hankinson in Cumberland, Maryland, Kane is a pro American wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He is scheduled to make his debut on the SmackDown brand.
Andrew William Hankinson launched his wrestling career in Pennsylvania. He used to wrestle under the name Dorian Deville for the Summit Wrestling Association of Southern Pennsylvania, the World Star Wrestling Federation, and the National Wrestling League (based in Maryland.) In April of 2005, he was signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), whereupon he was sent down to the Deep South Wrestling developmental territory. There, he formed a partnership with Palmer Cannon. At Deep South Wrestling, Hankinson wrestled under the name Deacon Deville. Eventually, he changed his ring name to The Freakin’ Deacon.
In the year 2006, Andrew William Hankinson made his debut on World Wrestling Entertainment’s RAW program. There, he wore Kane’s original ring attire, complete with a full face mask, in order to confront Kane. Andrew William Hankinson immediately chokeslammed Kane. The two then continued to fight each other over the following weeks, with Kane’s impersonator constantly winning. This led to a match that was scheduled for Vengeance 2006. There, Edge would defeat Kane with a chokeslam. On the next episode of RAW, Kane beat down Hankinson and tore his mask off before throwing him out of the arena. This was to be Hankinson’s final appearance on RAW.
After his feud with Kane came to a close, Andrew William Hankinson returned to Deep South Wrestling. He also appeared as The Freakin’ Deacon on SmackDown house shows. In January of 2007, he formed a tag team with G Rilla.
In a May 2007 episode of SmackDown, it was suggested that Hankinson’s new gimmick would be as Festus Dalton as part of a new southern team, alongside Ray Gordy, another WWE developmental wrestler. The following month, however, it was reported that the gimmick was being dropped. Apparently, they did not show up on SmackDown because they got lost on the way to the arena. In fact, Gordy and Hankinson had already been sent back to OVW, and Hankinson’s name was changed to Justice Dalton. This marked the third time in the WWE that Hankinson had been dropped from the roster.
In late June 2007, vignettes on SmackDown hyping his return to the roster began to air. In a September 2007 episode of SmackDown, a segment featuring Festus and Jesse was shown in an arena rather than a studio.
